This is only for the most intense fun-seekers. It’s not officially endorsed, and provided for entertainment purposes only. (But I promise it’s a blast!) - Setup rules for any departments that are off-limits, then send off the first person to hide. It’s just like hide-n-seek but as you find them, you join the group in hiding. The first person to find the hidden person gets to hide next. (It’s the perfect game to play before picking up stuff for a group picnic!)
If you’ve got a GPS for your car, or a phone with GPS, head over to www.geocaching.com to learn more about this unique and fun sport/adventure/treasure hunt. Consider making two team of friends and challenging each other to who can find the most caches.
Put on your hiking boots, bring your swim suit and some friends to spend a warm afternoon at the gorgeous Honey Run Waterfall.

The Kenyon music department offers a wide variety of diverse musical recitals and concerts to the public for free. The music sounds even better in some of their gorgeous facilities. If you want a “cultured” date night, be sure to check this out!

Pile a bunch of friends (or your date) into the car and head down Route 13 towards Newark for 20mins. The Ye Olde Mill has a great park for picnicking and great ice cream! (If you go on a weekday afternoon, sometimes you can even get a factory tour.)
The weekend is the perfect time to join the Cougar Crazies in cheering on our athletes as they compete. Virtually all on-campus games are free for students. Head on over to http://cougars.mvnu.edu for game schedules. Go Cougars!
Spend the afternoon at a coffee shop. Take a friend and challenge each other to meet new people from the community. Everyone has a story, they are just waiting for someone who is ready to listen. Recommendations include Sips Coffee Shop in Mount Vernon or Middle Grounds in Gambier on the Kenyon campus.
This ones for the ladies! If you and your friends all have your old prom dresses on-campus, pick a night to wear them when you all go out for fast food together. Sure you may get some crazy looks, but it’s a great time!
Experience the thrill of the local farmer’s market with some friends up at the square every Saturday from 9AM - Noon every Saturday from May 2nd - October 31st. Buying local is eco-friendly and tasty!
If you’re up for an active afternoon, and the weather’s good, head on down to the practice soccer fields on Sunday afternoons at 2PM for pickup soccer games with friends. It’s a great way to meet people, be active, and have an awesome Sunday afternoon!
Invite your neighbors that you may not know and indulge in classic movies for an evening. (From X-Men to the Lord of the Rings.) Put in some popcorn and enjoy movies while getting to know those you will be living around through the year.
SInce MVNU currently doesn’t sport our own Football team, check out the local Friday night football games at nearby schools. Try going to a few different high school’s games and find your favorite team to cheer on.
Grab a few of your closest friends and take off on your own tennis golf adventure. All you need is a racket, tennis ball, and some time to hit the tees. Our campus is filled with potential targets or “holes”. Many upperclassmen even have pre-set courses that have been passed down for years.
Only a short drive toward Kenyon and a bit of a hike will earn you and your friends the best possible view of the night sky on a clear, warm weekend night.
The Kokosing Gap Bike Trail is basically on-campus it’s so close. Just go to the end of Cougar Drive and walk across the bridge on the right. Take a few friends and enjoy!
